We do not need to decide which spiritual traditions are “advanced” and which are “primitive.”

We do not need to ridicule metaphysical beliefs.

We do not need to prove or disprove every report of unusual perception.

We need a better ethical standard.

It is this:

No spiritual framework grants automatic jurisdiction over another person's interior life.

Participation is not blanket consent.

Intuition is not proof.

Spiritual status is not evidence.

Closeness is not ownership.

Insight is not permission.

And an inability to prove an intrusion does not justify ignoring a person's stated boundary.

The person who says:

“Do not interpret me.”

has communicated something that requires no metaphysical investigation whatsoever.

They have communicated a boundary.

The ethical response is extraordinarily simple:

Stop.

That may ultimately be one of the most important tests of spiritual maturity available to us.

Not whether someone can enter the mind—but whether they know when they have no right to enter the conversation about it.
